The meaning of management systems (for safety or environment) is an organizational management aimed to ensure the achievement of health, safety and environment targets.

The Management System for Health and Safety At Work (SGSL) defines how to identify, within the corporate organizational structure, responsibilities, procedures, processes and resources for the realization of the policy of prevention, in compliance with standards of health and safety regulations, in order to make them more efficient and more integrated into overall business operations, for a continuous improvement.

The Environmental Management System (EMS) is defined as a part of the overall management system which includes the organizational structure, responsibilities, practices, procedures, processes and resources to define and put into effect the environmental policy.

The main targets of an EMS are fixed to lead the company to conduct its business in a responsible way ensuring respect of the environment; doing a correct identification, analysis, prediction, prevention and control of the effects of its own work on the environment; to arrive at the real motivation, participation and communication between all subjects involved.
